My goal is to output 12 channel audio from JRiver to a virtual ASIO driver, have Voicemeter take that, split channels 1 2 3 4 to output A channels Left, Right, Surround L, Surround R (1 2 5 6 ?), and have channels 5 6 7 8 9 split to output B channels Left, Right, Surround L, Surround R, subwoofer (1 2 5 6 4?), actual #'s may vary slightly, going into 2 different receivers through optical/spdif cables.
I'm new to Voicemeter, and see the virtual ASIO input in the .pdf manual, but can't quite figure it out. Is there an example or article on that?
Background long story is....I have a home theater setup where I take 2 channel through 7.1 channel in JRiver media player, and apply convolution filters (generated by Acourate software) processing that acts as an active digital crossover (I used a microphone to measure timing, frequency response, etc). My output is a 4.1 system with 4 2-way speakers plus sub, which means I have 9 sound / amplification channels, and use a 12 channel ASIO external audio device (Echo AudioFire 12 via a firewire cable). It works great except for some ground noise buzz/clicking that's random, plus I was wanting to use digital outputs instead of analog outputs. It's difficult to deal with more than 8 channels, receivers only have 8 inputs, but the sound is great, no crossover ringing, all drivers time aligned, phase corrected, frequency/room corrected, kind of like listening to good headphones, except body feels the bass, a very surprising type of sound.
Thanks, Steve
